MEET OUR TEAM
Jay Hanley / Principal
After spending a number of years working in finance in San Francisco and New York, Jay moved to Nantucket full-time in 2002. Since that time, Jay has led his team in building more than one hundred homes on the island, including the development of over thirty luxury investment properties.
When not working, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife, Liz, and children, Luke and Elle. His other pursuits include thoroughbred horse racing, documentary filmmaking, puzzles, and sports, of all kinds. Jay is happiest when serving those less fortunate than himself, utilizing his creativity, and competing (in anything). He obtained a B.A from Bucknell University and a management degree from Harvard University.
Tom Garrette / Principal
Tom brings over 20 years of project management experience to the Hanley Construction & Development team. Prior to joining the Hanley team in 2013 he successfully led 20+ person teams to complete multiple engineering transformation and process improvement initiatives for PWC, IBM, Accenture and Booz Allen Hamilton. He is a licensed Construction Supervisor and Real Estate agent and has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Using this experience, Tom has led the construction of multiple complex projects on schedule, within budget and at the highest level of quality for his clients. Outside of work he is a board member at the Montessori Children’s House and Deacon at the Nantucket First Congregational Church and enjoys spending time with his family and doing just about anything he can outdoors including playing golf, biking, waterskiing and hiking.
